Save Yourself

“Don’t ask for guarantees. And don’t look to be saved in any one thing, person, machine, or library. Do your own bit of saving, and if you drown, at least die knowing you were heading for shore.” – Ray Bradbury

Even though it doesn’t feel like it, we spend most of our lives waiting. We find ourselves at the one end of a dark tunnel and we wait for someone or something to take our hand and lead us toward the light on the other side.

We spend our days wishing for better ones.

We want our very own fairytale, but we don’t want to work for it.

Let me tell you something. That dark tunnel you’re in. Turn on the lights. Just do it. Turn on the lights. It’s up to you. It always was.

Don’t wish away your life.

What you have is what you are given. What you are right now is exactly what you have worked for.

We don’t get what we wish for, we get what we fight for. By ourselves. Inspite of numerous obstacles.

Do you feel that life’s unfair? This feeling hurts, doesn’t it? Good. Push through it, because on the other side is something you want.

Don’t tell yourself pretty lies to make reality seem less harsh than it is. Reconize it. See things as they are. And then face them. Face them. Force yourself to solve your problems.

That’s how you turn the freaking lights on. That’s how you escape the dark tunnel. That’s how you live, damn it!

Each day you spend wishing for this or that to happen only moves you closer to death. To oblivion. To the last heartbreak of having wasted your time on this earth.

Don’t dream. Visualize. Envision yourself becoming who you’ve always wanted to be. Imagine yourself becoming that person. How does it feel? Great, right? Now act like you already are that person and you’ll become that person.

And the world won’t be able to do a damn thing to stop you.
